Interment will be in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery-Monterey, rural West Point, NE. Visitation will be on Friday from noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point. There will be a Rosary at 1:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., both at the funeral home. Adella passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the West Point Living Center. Adella Birchem was born on November 14, 1916, north of Dodge, NE in Cuming County to Joe and Antonia (Vach) Benes. She grew up north of Dodge. On February 20, 1936, she was united in marriage to Bernard Birchem at St. Boniface Catholic Church-Monterey, rural West Point, NE. They farmed north of Dodge, NE and Adella worked at Wimmers Meat Plant in Dodge. In 1975, she moved into West Point and continued working at Wimmers Meat Products until her retirement. Adella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point and was a former Christian Mother. She enjoyed quilting, tending to her flowers and loved to volunteer at the Sunshine Center in West Point, NE. Adella also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include- Son- Ralph Birchem of Greenbriar, AR Daughter-Margaret Wagner and late husband Al of West Point, NE Daughter-Elaine and husband Robert Mlnarik of Fremont, NE She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sister- Lillian Musil of Stanton, NE Brother-Ed Benes of Dodge, NE Adella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son-Raymond Birchem, son-Leonard Birchem, grandson-Ross Mlnarik, son-in-law-Al Wagner, two sisters and three brothers."
