The Women's Relief Corps attended in a body. Miss Shriver passed away Thursday evening, May 21, 1942, at the Ebersole nursing home in Jefferson at the age of 69 years. Her death came just 14 years after that of her brother, Clarence, who died May 21, 1928. The daughter of John J. and Annabella Shriver, she was born Aug. 4, 1872, in Cedar county. At the age of seven, she came with her parents to Greene county, and settled on a farm three miles northeast of Churdan. She moved to town with her parents March 1, 1910, and made Churdan her home since. She had been active in the Presbyterian church of Churdan, as well as working with other organizations, including the Missionary society, the W.R.C. and the W.C.T.U. Since the beginning of her illness, which started in December of 1941, she had gradually failed until the hour of her death. She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Olive Stewart and Mrs. Florence Nutt of Des Moines, Miss Jessie Shriver of Chicago and Mrs. Mary Peacock of Spirit Lake; a brother, Clyde Shriver of Churdan, and several nieces and nephews, of whom she was very fond. There is also left a sister-in-law, Mrs. Clarence Shriver of Churdan, who was close to her. Relatives attending the service included Mr. and Mrs. I.F. Peacock of Spirit Lake, Miss Jessie Shriver of Chicago, Dr. and Mrs. W.L. Nutt, Miriam and Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Stewart, Mr and Mrs. Pete Van Gilder and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Stewart, all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Shriver of Gowrie, Mr. and Mrs Emmett Hebenstreit of Grand Junction.
