He died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 23 days. Adolph was born on his parent's farm in Willow Township, the youngest of 11 children and was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa on December 21, 1922. Read More	Adolph Johann Ferdinand Neddermeyer was born December 5th, 1922, the son of Marvin and Augusta (Hansen) Neddermeyer. He died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 23 days. Adolph was born on his parent's farm in Willow Township, the youngest of 11 children and was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa on December 21, 1922. He attended country school through the 4th grade and then transferred to St. John's Lutheran School where he graduated from the 8th grade. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's congregation in 1937 where he remained a life long member. He attended regularly and supported the church throughout his life by participating in a variety of improvement projects and other giving. On April 12, 1942 he was united in marriage to Gladys Samuelson, daughter of Arthur and Grace Samuelson. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Charter Oak, were blessed with four children and were given the privilege of celebrating fifty years of marriage. Adolph had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed most, the fellowship of family and friends in whatever setting they would gather. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, dancing, card games, polka music and vacationing at Lake Osakis, Minnesota. He had an excellent memory and enjoyed telling and re~telling stories and happenings from years gone by. Adolph was very proud of his family and took great joy in watching it grow. Gathering them together to enjoy one~another as often as possible was a priority he embraced, especially in his later years. Adolph's farming career spanned 50 years (1944~1994) where he experienced dramatic changes within the industry. He was a steward of the land who took great pride in actively implementing soil conservation programs that earned him county and statewide recognition. He began working the land with a team of horses purchased at his father's farm sale. He retired using modern machinery, encouraging his sons in their implementation of contemporary no~till farming applications. He understood the fruits of the land were gifts from God, and gave thanks throughout the seasons of his life for the rain and the harvest, reminding his family often of this blessing. Adolph was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Augusta; his wife, Gladys; a son Ronald; two stillborn children; three brothers, Carl, Herbert and Ervin; two sisters~in~law, Anna, wife of Carl, and Alice, wife of Herbert; three sisters and their husbands, Edna and August Nemitz; Erna and Alva Lill Sr.; Esther and Jurgen (Jeff) Iversen; four brothers who died as young children, Marvin, Ernest, Christian and an unnamed infant; four grandchildren in infancy, Keith and JoDee Hennings, children of Eileen and Warren, Julie Neddermeyer, daughter of Ronald and Joleen and baby boy Neddermeyer, son of Allan and Marjorie; and his very special friend, Rose Hamman of Mapleton, Iowa. Those remaining to cherish his memory include two sons, Allan and his wife, Marjorie and Melvin and his wife, June; one daughter, Eileen and her husband, Warren Hennings; one daughter~in~law, Joleen and her husband, Verlin "Butch" Bridgeman; one sister~in~law, Helma Neddermeyer, wife of Ervin; fifteen grandchildren, Cory, Mark and Bethany, children of Allan and Marjorie; Jason, Jenna, Jared and Just'n, children of Ronald and Joleen; Timothy, Brian, John and Andrew, children of Eileen and Warren; Dena, Jamie, Jill and Lacy, children of Melvin and June; twenty~six great~grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Richard Merrill officiated the services and grave side rites held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak. Organist Marjorie Neddermeyer provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "Let Me Be Thine Forever," "Asleep in Jesus," and "Just As I Am, Without One Plea." Those serving as honorary pallbearers were Just'n Neddermeyer, Dena Neddermeyer, Bethany Mallory, Jared Neddermeyer, Andrew Hennings, John Hennings, and Lacy Jacobsen. Those serving as pallbearers were Jamie Neddermeyer, Mark Neddermeyer, Timothy Hennings, Jenna Nelson, Jason Neddermeyer, Cory Neddermeyer, Brian Hennings, and Jill Shepperd. A 7 p.m. prayer service was held Monday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of the arrangements.
