Read More	Place of birth is from Nebraska Birth Ledgers, 1904 - 1911. =================== The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, January 30, 1958; pg. 9 Faimon - Menke Nuptials On Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1968 at 8:30 a.m., Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence was the scene of the marriage of Miss Maureen Faimon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Faimon to Adrian Menke, sop of Mrs. Agnes Menke and the late Herman Menke. Monsignor Frank Sherman officiated at the double ring ceremony and offered the Nuptial Mass which followed. Bouquets of pink and white carnations adorned the altars. The Misses Marian Faimon and Betty Gilsdorf sang "Panis Angelicus" accompanied by Sister M. Clemen. Altar boys were Lyle Menke, Jimmy Jarosik, Jack Kroening and Jim Menke. Miss Mary Gilsdorf, cousin of it the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Jovita Kitten, a friend, was bridesmaid, They wore ballerina length gowns of net and taffeta in blue and pink respectively. The skirts featured metallic ruffles of net over taffeta. Their head pieces were heart shaped crowns of net over taffeta in colors to match their gowns and they carried bouquets of pink and blue carnations. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a gown of Chantilly lace, net and satin. The bodice of Chantilly lace featured bridal sleeves. The bouffant skirt of net over satin was accented with a wide inset of Chantilly lace and fell from an empire waist line. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown of minute pearls. She carried a white prayer book and a bouquet of red and white roses. Paul Faimon, brother of the bride and Gerald Menke, cousin of the bride and groom were the groom's attendants. Ushers were Arnold Faimon, brother of the bride and Vincent Menke, brother of the groom. They wore black tuxedos with white carnation bouttoneires (sic). The bride's mother wore a rose dress with gold print. The groom's mother chose a black lace dress over taffeta. Their corsages were of white carnations. A dinner was held in the church basement at noon for about 160 relatives and friends. The three-tiered wedding cake which centered the brides table, was baked and decorated by Mrs. LaVern Kohmetscher, the bride's sister. Miss Marion Faimon and Mrs. Robert Faimon had charge of the guest book and gifts. In the evening the young couple entertained at a dance in the school hall. The bride graduated from Lawrence high school and was employed with the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Co., at Hastings. The groom served two years in the U.S. Army and is engaged in farming. The couple will live on a farm south of Lawrence. ======================= Adrian George "Buster" Menke, 92, of Lawrence, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, at home. Rosary will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 7:30 p.m. and Mass will be Wednesday, July 7, 2021, 10:00 a.m. both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska with Father Corey Harrison officiating. Burial with Military Rites by Kent Kailey Post #45, Lawrence, Nebraska and Army National Guard Honor's Team will be at St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery, rural Lawrence, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Lawrence visitation chapel, Lawrence, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements. Adrian was born May 31, 1929, in Lawrence to Herman and Agnes (Schroer) Menke. He grew up on a farm south of Lawrence, receiving his education in a rural school south of Lawrence. He entered the U.S. Army on September 16, 1952 and was honorably discharged on September 15, 1954, serving during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Maureen E. Faimon on Jan. 21, 1958, in Lawrence. This union was blessed with nine children: Daniel, Joseph, Charles, Edward, Thomas, Timothy, Bernard, Carol and Mary. The couple lived on a farm in rural Lawrence, he was a farmer his entire life and was also employed by the Coop for 24 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and DAV (Disabled American Veterans). Adrian loved farming, collecting toy tractors and antiques. He cherished his time playing cards with friends and especially grandchildren at family functions. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Joe (Sharon) Menke of Grand Island; Charles (Jan) Menke of Lawrence; Edward (Kim) Menke of Friend; Thomas (Melissa) Menke of Chadron; Timothy (Susi) Menke of Hastings; and Bernard (Gina) Menke of Lawrence; two daughters, Carol (Alan) Jurgensmier of Grand Island; Mary (Chris) Koch of Hastings; 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Thelma Koester of Lincoln; and Lola Yetman of Hastings; sisters-in-law Sally Menke of Hastings; Marian Herbek of Hastings; brother-in-law John Hubl of Lawrence; brothers and sisters-in law; Elmer and Maxine Rempe of Superior, Paul and Wanda Faimon, Ron and Barb Buescher, Pat and Cheryl Faimon all of Lawrence, Howard and Agnes Schroer of Lincoln, Tom and Theresa Kulek of Hastings, and a host of extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel Menke; a brothers, Vincent Menke; Ralph in infancy; three sisters, Alice Svoboda, Eileen Hubl and MarJean in infancy; brothers-in-law, Frank Jarosik, Glen Koester, Bud Yetman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Loraine Faimon, Arnold and Martha Faimon, Ray and Vivian Juranek, Lavern and Rita Kohmetscher, Staniel and Angela Juranek, Robert and Maureen Faimon, Robert and Bernadette Novotny, Joan Faimon, Albert Herbek, Jr., Charles Faimon in infancy, Margaret Faimon in infancy and Charlene Buescher.
