Agatha Belle Schultz, 90 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, (formerly of Orleans, Nebraska) passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma. Agatha was born June 7, 1927 in Harlan County, Nebraska, on the family farm near Orleans, the eldest of four children born to Wilhelm and Bernice (Richardson) Dietz. She received her education from a rural school south of Stamford, Nebraska. Agatha and Alfred first met, when he was working at the Hopkins farm. On March 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Alfred C. Schultz in Norton, Kansas, and to this union seven children were born: Stanley, Laird, Irene, Lurabelle, Alberta, Bill, and Sheila. The family made their home in Harlan County. When the children were young, Agatha was devoted to caring for the needs of their large family. Later in years, she was employed by Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege, and the Oxford Cheese Factory prior to her retirement. On February 4, 2002, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred. Agatha cherished the time spent with all her children, and grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved sewing, especially quilt making. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, and in earlier years, she was active with Ladies Aide. Besides her parents, and husband, Alfred; she was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Joe Schultz; two grandchildren: Tracy Humes, and Jennifer Schultz; one brother, Cecil Dietz and his wife, Kathleen; sisters-in-law: Alvina Pape and her husband, Frank; and Marian Schultz; and brother-in-law, Bob Aten. Agatha leaves to celebrate her life; her six children: Laird Schultz of Alma; Irene Kirschner and her husband, Darrel of Elm Creek, Nebraska; Lurabelle Humes and her husband, Ed Holmquest of Wiggins, Colorado; Alberta Kerst and husband, Rick of Bartley, Nebraska; Bill Schultz and his wife, Micki of Orleans; and Sheila Schultz-Doles and her husband, Carl Doles, Jr. of Orleans; twenty grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother, Billy Dietz and his wife, Betty of Orleans; one sister, Shirley Aten of Crofton, Maryland; brother-in-law, Ernest Schultz and his wife, Debra of Holdrege; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
