The calculated DOB from that information is (within a day or so) Jan. 23, 1859. This memorial is being updated to conform to that inscription interpretation but with caution. The Jefferson County death record and published death notice in the Fairfield Ledger (see photo) both listed the DOD as Jan. 13, 1883 and the age as being 22y 1m 12d, which produces a marked change in the DOB calculation to be Dec. 1, 1858. Not sure how to best reconcile these differences unless and until the headstone is (properly) cleaned and the inscription verified. Family researchers should use the DOB/DOD information with caution. > Wife of William Willis Grammer (a/k/a Grammar), married on June 12, 1878 in Jefferson county, Iowa, marriage license # 4934. The original marriage record was written in handwritten cursive (personally viewed by this contributor on Nov. 6, 2017 at the Jefferson County Recorder's office in Fairfield, Iowa) and the groom's surname, frankly, could be interpreted as either "Grammer" or "Grammar", obviously leading to various sources using one version or the other. > The memorial for husband William Willis Grammer is by another contributor, entered as a 'burial unknown', and linked from that memorial to this memorial. Hopefully, in time, the burial location will be established and the proper cemetery location entered. > One daughter was born to William and Agnes: Mary Isabelle Grammer Smith. Her memorial linked to both parents on Nov. 5/6, 2017 per edit request. ------------------- Note: this contributor searched on microfilm for full obituary notices for Agnes, but only found the brief death notice published in the Fairfield Ledger.
