(Hoffman) Hunter Goebel was born on May 12, 1913, on the family homestead northwest of Kenmare, ND, to Joseph P. and Mary Rosa (Mertes) Hoffman. One of ten children, she attended St. Agnes Academy in Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1932. (Hoffman) Hunter Goebel was born on May 12, 1913, on the family homestead northwest of Kenmare, ND, to Joseph P. and Mary Rosa (Mertes) Hoffman. One of ten children, she attended St. Agnes Academy in Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1932. She attended the Sisters of St. Francis School of Nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot and graduated with her nursing diploma in 1936. She married William Hunter in February of 1937, in Kenmare. They lived in Ryder and Parshall, ND for several years and then moved to Burlington, ND in 1942. They lived and raised their family in Burlington. Agnes worked for Minot area hospitals. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and as a private duty nurse for several years. She also worked in the delivery room at Trinity Hospital and the Minot Air Force Hospitals. William died in 1963. She married Norbert Goebel in June of 1965. She retired from the Air Force Hospital in the late 1970's. Norbert and Agnes spent their winters in Yuma, AZ and lived in Burlington in the summer. They moved to Minot and lived in the Parker Center in the early 1990's. They later moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot. Norbert died in January of 2001. Following Norbert's death, she lived in the Ruth Stavros Foster Home, and then to the Unsong Ringuette Foster Home, both of Minot. She lived there until the time of her death. She was a member and served on the pastoral care committee at Our Lady of Grace Church, Minot. She was a former member, Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Leo's Church in Minot and a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Burlington. She served on the altar societies at all three churches. She was a member of the Minot Right to Life Organization, the ND Nurses Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Burlington Friendly Seniors. Her two husbands, son William John, son-in-law Cliff Hemstock, four sisters, Loretta, Marie, Doris and Ann, three brothers, Francis, John and James, and one granddaughter-in-law, Geralyn Ross, preceded her in death.
