Description	:	Mrs. Agnes Simmons Carper was born near Gilestown, Virginia, January 28, 1837, and died May 18th, 1914 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.E. Barrett, near Eagle, Neb., at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 20 days.. In her early life she moved with her parents from Virginia to Illinois where she was married to Harvey Carper in 1853. Carper, of Havelock, Neb; James M. Carper of Manley, Neb; Thomas W. Carper of Emerson, Neb; John L. Carper and Harvey V. Carper, of Denver Colo; Ira E. Carper of Pittsburg, Cal; Mrs. W.A. Rhoden of O'Gallah, Kansas; Mrs. Melvin Turner and Mrs. C.E. Barrett of Eagle, Neb. They were all at her bedside during her last illness except one son, Harvey V., of Denver, Colo. The son from California, Ira E., had not seen his mother for twenty years and their meeting was very affecting. One brother Leonard R Simmons, of Virginia, Ills., thirty-eight grand-children, twenty six great grand-children also survive her. Mrs. Carper had lived in Nebraska for the past fifty-one years and during all these years she kept her mind refreshed with the current events and signs of the times. She was a faithful, patient Christian lady and was loved by a host of friends.. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in this city, Wednesday at 1 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. O. Harrell, and the remains were shipped on the afternoon train to Weeping Water and laid to rest beside her husband who preceeded her to the better world.
