Hiawatha, Brown Co., KS Foster, Agnes, head, 69, Wd, b.NY, resided in WI on 4/1/1935. OBITUARY Foster—Agnes Edna Stapleton was born in Yonkers, N. Y., May 16, 1870, died March 30, 1941 at Hiawatha, Kans., at the age of 70 years, 10 months, 15 days. She came to Kansas when 7 years of age with her parents, William C., Isabel A. Stapleton, 6 brothers, sisters. Her father, mother lived but a short time. She, her brothers, sisters were cared for by Mr. Mrs. Nathan Justin, their grandparents. At the death of the grandparents the children were separated, Agnes made her home, during childhood, with Mrs. James Love, in Hiawatha. In those early years she attended the Hamlin, Hiawatha schools, became a member of the Congregational church, Hiawatha. On October 24, 1923, she was united in marriage to Stanley S. Foster, of Pepin, Wis. She lived in Pepin until his death March 11, 1934, after his death she returned to Kansas, lived for a short time in Horton, Kans. From there until the time of her death she made her home in Hiawatha. Mrs. Foster lived a consistent christian life. At the time of her death she was a member of the Hiawatha Methodist church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Hamlin, Kans., Pepin, Wis. She enjoyed the friendship, companionship of many people. Her church, friends, music, books were the things around which she built her life. She leaves in bereavement 2 brothers, William C. Stapleton, of Hamlin, H. N. Stapleton, Jewell City, Kans., a sister, Mrs. R. C. Berkley, of Hamlin, other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Foster were conducted April 2, 1941, at the Hargis funeral home, Rev. Wm. I. Has_e, of Hiawatha, officiating, assisted by Rev. N. J. Lewis, of Hamlin. Music for the services was furnished by Mr. Mrs. C. A. Harpster, of Hiawatha, with Mrs. Herman at the piano. Body bearers were H. M. Pfeiffer, S. I. Miller, R. E. Gaston, Daniel Pfeiffer, of Hamlin, C. C. Jones, Fairview, J. L. Sherrer, Hiawatha. Burial was in the Hamlin cemetery. —The Hiawatha Daily World (Hiawatha, KS) Sat. April 5, 1941, p.2.
