Together they were the parents of one daughter, Marguerite Myrtis Cox. Her second husband was Grover F. Summey, who survived her, no children. He was in service and stationed in Mississippi when she passed away. Her obituary stated she was a lifelong resident of Marietta, and she was staying with her mother near Slater while her husband was serving his country. Survived by her husband and daughter; her mother and stepfather; four sisters, Mrs. Henry (Hester) Green, Mrs. Haskell (Annie Mae) Coggins, Mrs. Wallace (Nellie Ruth) Payne, and Mrs. Broadus (Lois) Hartin; and five brothers, W.D. Tripp, Troy Tripp, Jasper Tripp, Ralph Tripp, and Lewis Tripp. Funeral services: Sunday, February 21, 1943, Middle Rive Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Charles T. Thompson and Rev. Dwight Bragg. Burial: Middle River Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tom Boggs, Roy Summey, Glen Payne, Johnny Smith, Oscar Drewery, and Jack Cashion. Flower girls: the Misses Mary Cooper, Sue Price, Elaine Bryson, Dorothy Turner, Merle Boggs, and Evelyn Cashion. As was still the custom of the day, her remains were returned to the family home for visitation until the time of the funeral. This was to the home of her mother, Mrs. E.F. Swaney, 22 Webster Street, Slater.
