Walter Baumgartner officiating. Burial was made in the Morgan Cemetery. The pallbearers were Clarence Wiese, Clarence Reincke, Palmer Volkmann, Edward Grell, John Grell and Ernie Grell. Mrs. Agnes Volkmann, nee Grell, daughter of Friedrich Grell and Katharina Studet, was born December 6, 1895, on the Island of Fehmarn, Germany. Mrs. Agnes Volkmann, nee Grell, daughter of Friedrich Grell and Katharina Studet, was born December 6, 1895, on the Island of Fehmarn, Germany. At the age of 2 ½ years, she came to America with her mother, one sister and two brothers. They resided in Denison, Iowa for several years. Later they moved to Schleswig, Iowa. At the age of 14 she was confirmed at the evangelical and Reformed Church and became a member of the same. For several years she worked in different home in the neighborhood of Schleswig. On the 25th day of August 1915, she was married to Jacob Volkmann. To this union two daughters were born. Mr. and Mrs. Volkmann lived on the farm until 1925. From then on they made their home in the town of Schleswig. Mrs. Volkmann was a member of the German Choir for 29 years and an active member of the Women's Guild for many years. On June 22, she suffered a heart attack and was taken to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital. She passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday morning, June 28, 1960, at 5:00 A.M. at the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 22 days. She leaves to mourn her husband Jacob, two daughters, Velma, Mrs. Walter Bliesmann of Schleswig, Luella at home, two grandchildren, "Wayne and Mary Bliesmann, one brother Carl of Ricketts, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Emma Rabe of Schleswig and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and one sister. The Schleswig Leader July 7, 1960
