Born May 28, 1922, in Sandyville, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Grace Ellen Slorp Harpel. She worked for Shilling Brothers and Shriver's Canning Factories and she retired in the late 1980s after working in housekeeping for Carroll Lutheran Village. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and feeding and watching birds. She was an avid fan of the Statler Brothers music and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. Born May 28, 1922, in Sandyville, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Grace Ellen Slorp Harpel. She worked for Shilling Brothers and Shriver's Canning Factories and she retired in the late 1980s after working in housekeeping for Carroll Lutheran Village. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and feeding and watching birds. She was an avid fan of the Statler Brothers music and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She was a member of Carrollton Church of God and the Super Sixties of Church of the Open Door. She was the last of her immediate family. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Paul H. and Brenda Conaway, of Finksburg; daughter and son-in-law Linda J. and James Rill, of Westminster; grandchildren Steven D. Rill, of Hanover, Pa., Brian D. Rill, of Taneytown, Mark D. Rill, of Westminster, and Amy L. Conaway, of Finksburg; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Patricia Stonesifer, of Charlotte Hall; and a nephew, Howard E. Harpel III, of Finksburg. She was predeceased by a brother, Howard E. Harpel Jr.; and sisters Eleanor Harpel and Gertrude Nash. Interment in Carrollton Church of God Cemetery.
