The funeral occured at 2 P.M. yesterday. ---- Fairfield Ledger Dec. 25, 1889 Pg. 3, Col. 7 DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE RICHARDSON On Sunday, after a long and painful illness, Mrs. George RICHARDSON passed away at her home, two miles west of this city. Agnes WHITFIELD was born near Glasgow, Scotland, May 14th, 1826, and with her parents removed to Maryland at the age of thirteen. In 1844 she was united in marriage with George RICHARDSON, and a number of years later removed to Iowa, having been a resident of Jefferson County for more than a third of a century. Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. RICHARDSON, of whom seven girls and four boys are now living, two daughters dying in infancy. The funeral occurred from her late home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Dr. Magill conducting the services, which were largely attended. Deceased was a most estimable christian woman and was highly esteemed by the large number of friends she had won during her long residence in our midst. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing husband and children. Her trust was in her Savior, for she believed "He doeth all things well." ----------- Following is a listing (not in chronological order) of the 13 known children of George and Agnes Richardson, compiled by a combination of sources (obituaries, census, cemetery listings, etc.). Note that the obituaries for some of the adult married children state that they were of a family of 11 children. This is likely because the two Mary A. Richardson daughters died as infants/young children and oftentimes such deaths were ignored in obituaries of parents and siblings. * Margaret/Margret Richardson (b. about 1846 in PA.; only direct mention of her is in the George Richardson 1860 Jefferson county US Census for his family. No other mention of her has been found but she was evidently living (single or married ??) as of the 1889 death of her mother (one of seven daughters surviving).
