Mrs. Agnes Vanderloop, nearly 88 years of age, departed this life last Saturday afternoon, January 6, at 2:30 o'clock. Death was from sickness resulting from her advanced age. She was ill two weeks. Mrs. Vanderloop was the widow of George Vanderloop, whose death occurred in David City in May, 1913. Her maiden name was Agnes Williams. She was born in Holland on April 15, 1829. She was one of three children. Her parents and brother and sister preceded her to the grave several years. Coming to this country the United States, when 20 years of age, she located in Brown county, Wisconsin, and five years later was united in marriage to George Vanderloop, also a native of Holland and a resident of Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderloop lived in Wisconsin until 1879 when they came to Nebraska, locating on farm in Center township seven miles south of David City. They lived there until 22 years ago when they moved to David City. Since death of Mr. Vanderloop various granddaughters have lived with Mrs. Vanderloop. The past two years Miss Agnes Browers, of Cedar Rapids, has been with her. Six children, one son and five daughters, survive Mrs. Vanderloop. They are Mrs. William Litjen, of David City; Mrs. Anton Jansen, of Rushville; Henry Vanderloop, Mrs. Henry Rolf, Mrs. William Browers and Mrs. Jacob Rutten, of Cedar Rapids. She also leaves 59 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. All of Mrs. Vanderloop's children were here for the funeral services of their mother and the five daughters and Miss Agnes Browers acted as pallbearers. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Father Boll. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Besides the children, coming from away to the funeral were Henry Rolf, William Browers and Jacob Rutten from Cedar Rapids, Mrs. C. F. St. John from Rushville and William Uphoff from Marshall, Minn. Mrs. St. John is a granddaughter of Mrs. Vanderloop and Mr. Uphoff is a son-in-law. During her entire life Mrs. Vanderloop had been a faithful and consistent member of the Catholic church. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar society.
