Kirkpatrick, beloved wife of Henry K. Kirkpatrick, died this morning at 4:30 o'clock at the family residence, 180 North Davis street, after an illness that continued for two years. She had been bedfast for about one month. The illness and death of this lovable woman was free from any complaint. She was conscious until the last few hours, when she went into a heavy sleep from which she never awoke. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Main Street Methodist Episcopal church. Rev. A. B. Cadwell, the pastor, will be in charge. The choir sang some of the favorite old hymns, which Mrs. Kirkpatrick had loved so well. Interment was made in the Ottumwa cemetery. Agnes W. Lamme was born near Dayton, Ohio, January 14, 1849. She came from her native home overland to West Point, the early 50's. Later she moved to Afton, in Union county, and in 1862 to this county, where she had since made her home. On December 16, 1868, she was united in marriage to H. K. Kirkpatrick in the little brick home of her father on North Wapello street. With Mr. Kirkpatrick, the decedent had been numbered among those pioneers of early Wapello county, to whom much is due for the present Ottumwa and Wapello county. Five children blessed this union. With her husband and children, the following brothers and sisters survive: William R. Lamme and Mrs. Harriet E. Pollard of Ottumwa, and Henry G. Lamme of Starkville, Colo. The children are Mrs. Effie Smith, Thomas, South Dakota, Daniel W. Kirkpatrick, Alamosa, Colo., John Kirkpatrick and Leighton H. Kirkpatrick of Walsenburg, Colo., and James Kirkpatrick of Ottumwa. Mrs. Kirkpatrick joined with the Methodist church at Kirkville, when but a girl, and she had remained a devout member of the faith during her life time. The church work, especially among the missionary societies, the effect of Mrs. Kirkpatrick's Christianity was shown. She found much pleasure in her work of mercy and kindness to the poor and needy, and her acquaintances among them will join with the family and relatives in deeply mourning her death.
