Alan Dean Mohr was born on December 29, 1947 in Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of Alvin and Rose Marie (Frank) Mohr. He lived his youth in rural Auburn, Iowa on a farm. Mohr, age 71, of Melvin, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He will be cremated and burial will be at a later date. Alan Dean Mohr was born on December 29, 1947 in Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of Alvin and Rose Marie (Frank) Mohr. He lived his youth in rural Auburn, Iowa on a farm. He attended school in Auburn and Wall Lake View, Iowa and graduated. Alan served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971 and was honorably discharged at the rank of E-5. He was united in marriage to Janet Moon of Boone, Iowa in September of 1987 at Lake View, Iowa. They lived in Lake View where Alan worked in plumbing, heating and air conditioning. He started his own business doing the same. They moved to Sanborn, Iowa and Alan started his own plumbing, heating and air conditioning business. In 2006 he retired due to health problems and they moved to Melvin, Iowa. He was outgoing and liked being in business and visiting with people. He enjoyed tinkering, woodworking and his mischievous pet sun conure bird, who would sit on his shoulder under his sweat shirt and sleep. Alan was member of the American Legion Guthrie Post # 470 in Melvin, Iowa. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Auburn, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Alan was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 32 years, Janet Moon of Melvin, IA; one brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Lisa Mohr of Lake View, IA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Ron Rothe of Dennison, IA, Pam & Steve Renz of Carroll, IA.
