At the family home in this city on Friday afternoon of last week at __ o’clock occurred the death of A.A. Hudson, one of the long time residents of this vicinity. The deceased had been in poor health for the past eighteen months, and had been confined to his home most of the time since early in March at which time he suffered a severe attack of the flu from which he never fully recovered. Albert A. Hudson was born at Green Bay, Wi., March 19, 1854, and in the year 1864 he came to this place with his parents and continued to reside here until his death. On February 7, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Smelser. To this union were born two children, Ralph Hudson and Mrs. Neva McChane, both of this city, who with the wife are left to mourn his departure. One brother, Fred Hudson, of Lincoln, Neb. and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Rundel, of Roca, Neb., and Mrs. Alice Lambert, of Palmyra, Neb., and four grandchildren also survive. Mr. Hudson was one of the best known men of this section and during his long residence here formed a large acquaintance. Most of his life was spent on a farm near this city. For two years he was identified with the business interest of this city, having conducted a meat market for that length of time. About two years ago Mr. Hudson retired from the farm and came here to reside. His death will be deplored by a large circle of acquaintances. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the family home on Chestnut Street and were conducted by Rev. E.S. Genung, of McCallsburg, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church of this city, assisted by Rev. T.E. Sherman, resident pastor of the church. The funeral services were attended by a large number of friends and neighbors, and the many floral tributes in evidence about the casket attested the high esteem in which the deceased was held in the community. Burial was made in the family lot at West View cemetery. Those from out of town to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Reilley, Cliff Reilley Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Smelser, Miss Lillian Smelser, Mr. and Mrs. Eber Cotton, Mrs. R. Stokes, Mrs. S. Thomas, S.R. Pelton and Gordon Felton, of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. V. Felton and Mrs. E. Stokes, of Cedar Falls; Fred Hudson, Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. Alice Lambert, Palmyra, Neb., and Ms. Jennie Rundel, Roca, Neb.
