He was united in marriage to Pearl Hayes Miller of Eureka May 28, 1912. To this union four children; one boy Albert who died at birth; Viola of the home; Pauline and Ruth of ElDorado, and a step-son George Miller of ElDorado. He has a sister, Della Mae Ritter of Eureka, three half-sisters, Maggie Rush of Hamilton, Kansas, Julia Keller of Pocatello, Idaho, Nancy Paynes of Howard.. A brother Elmer Stevens and a half-brother Clan Hallet both of Eureka preceded him in death. He spent his boyhood and namhood in and around Greenwood County. His hobby was doing for others as they would so unto him. He was a man who also had a smile for those who knew him. He never complained of any pain up until he took sick. He enjoyed receiving cards and letters while a patient in the hospital. In all his suffering he never seemed blue. Five weeks before his passing he was convered and was a faithful beiever in God. He spent the rest of his days with his God until his death. He read the Bible daily. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Viola, Pauline, Ruth and George, his sister, Della Mae Ritter; six grandchildren, a niece and a nephew and a host of friends. Funeral service was held from Baird Funeral Home Saturday aftenoon July 29 with the Rev. R.E. Schaechtele officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
