Description	:	Died, at Hot Springs, Ark, Nov. 10, 1900, Albert D. Girton. Deceased was born at Cedar Falls, Iowa, April 30, 1871, came to Harrison County in 1877, and has since made this home. When war was declared against Spain he, in company with two other brothers, enlisted to defend and protect the honor of his country. After serving about one year he was wounded in the knee and was sent to the hospital for treatment. Read More	Died, at Hot Springs, Ark, Nov. 10, 1900, Albert D. Girton. Deceased was born at Cedar Falls, Iowa, April 30, 1871, came to Harrison County in 1877, and has since made this home. When war was declared against Spain he, in company with two other brothers, enlisted to defend and protect the honor of his country. After serving about one year he was wounded in the knee and was sent to the hospital for treatment. While confined there he took a fever and later a tropical disease which baffled the best physicians of the land. He recovered sufficiently to get home in September, 1899. He first went to Omaha for treatment, and then to Hot Springs, Ark, where he died after being there about two months. His remains were laid to rest in Magnolia cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Buckner under auspices of the GAR. The church was decorated profusely with flags and flowers, members of the late war acting as pall bearers. Albert Girton was a fine young man who was admired and respected by all who knew him. He is only one of the many who gave their lives in defense of their country.
