News of this untimely passing was a distinct shock to the entire community as few had heard of his illness until news came of his death. He was taken ill with a severe headache late Friday afternoon while at work on the farm. He rested well during the night and seemed much better the next day but on Sunday became gradually worse until at the suggestion of the attending physician he was taken to the Lutheran Hospital in St Louis early Monday morning where he passed away at 4:30 a.m. A postmortem examination revealed that his ailment was an acute attack of tetanus. He had not sustained any known injury and the cause of tetanus developed is a mystery. Up until Friday he had apparently been in the best of health. Albert Detring Jr was born in Libertyville, MO on Jan 21, 1925 the son of Albert and Frieda Schaefer Detring. In early infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran church. For eight years he attended St Paul's Lutheran Day School, was confirmed and graduated with the class of 1938 was active in Young People's work of the church being for a time president of the Junior Walther League a member of the Junior choir and Assistant Secretary of the Sunday School. He graduated from the Farmington High School a few months ago. Among the many sorrowing relatives are especially his parents Mrs and Mrs Albert Detring, two brothers and one sister William, Clifford and Nadine and his grandmother Mrs. Mary Schaefer. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor The Rev E.C. Pardieck on Wednesday afternoon at the Detring Home and in St Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Lutheran Cem with Neldert Service The editor of the New joins the entire community in Mourning this untimely passing of this splendid youth and in extending deepest sympathy in his bereaved loved ones.
