Description	:	The son of George W. & Phoebe (Sarah also reported) (Wilhide) Foreman, in 1860 he was a millwright living in Mechanicstown, Frederick County, Maryland. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Frederick, Maryland, August 21, 1862, as a private with Co. D, 6th Maryland Infantry, and promoted to corporal January 1, 1863. Sometime during May or June 1863, he was detached to clerical duty at the brigade commissary department. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Frederick, Maryland, August 21, 1862, as a private with Co. D, 6th Maryland Infantry, and promoted to corporal January 1, 1863. Sometime during May or June 1863, he was detached to clerical duty at the brigade commissary department. Returning to active duty, he was wounded in the face, the "ball entering left angle of nose making exit at middle of left lower jaw," November 27, 1863, at Locust Grove, Virginia, during the Mine Run campaign. Hospitalized at 2nd Division U.S. Hospital, Alexandria, Virginia, authorities granted him a lengthy furlough, and he never returned to active duty. He discharged by surgeon's certificate per general order May 20, 1865, at Washington DC. After the war, he married Martha Dotterer and fathered Alice (b. @1873), Clarence (b. @1874), Estelle (b. @1876), Mary (b. @1878), and George (b. 1880). He and Martha apparently divorced because she lived until 1939, and he married Ada C. Pennell, fathering Dorcas Ann (b. 06/21/84, d. 06/24/84). Ada died September 6, 1884, and he married Martha A. Roddy, fathering Victor A. (b. @1891), Wilsie (b. 09/07/94), Clara (b. @1896), Martha A. (b. 12/20/98), and Carl (b. @1901). In 1910, he lived in York Borough, York County, where he died from "dilatation of heart" with "apoplexy" a contributing factor.
