Al was born on July 8, 1928 to Joseph and Edna Fisher Wiegand. He married Aldene Bucher on September 14, 1952 in LaCrosse, IN. They had seven children: Michelle (Craig) Wagenbach of Clarendon Hills, IL; April (Dennis) Miller of Leawood, KS; Diana Ifft of Santa Clarita, CA; Brenda (Tom) Pryor of Kansas City, MO; Georgia (Tim) Pflederer of Tremont, IL; Jacqueline (Dwayne) Shinault of St. Paul, TX and Jay (Lorri) Wiegand of Lafayette, IN. Aldene passed away on September 16, 1972. Al then married Martha Steiner on January 27, 1974 in Oakville. They had three children: Ted (Carrie) Wiegand of Mt. Pleasant, IA; Sharla Wiegand of Burlington, IA and Rosalie Wiegand of Bradford, IL. Al loved the Lord his God above all else. He was a loving, faithful husband and father and made time for relationships above the things of this world. He was a vessel of God's love in the lives of others through his joyful spirit, warm friendliness and passion for sharing the gospel through Southern Gospel CDs. Al farmed for over 60 years in the Wapello, Iowa area and deeply appreciated being able to work each day in God's beautiful creation. He served in the US Army 1950-52, during the Korean Conflict, which blessed him with lifelong friends. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Martha Wiegand of Morning Sun; ten children, 25 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Joan Lanz of Oakville, IA and Sharon (Irvin) Hodel of Peoria, IL, sister-in-law Lois Wiegand of Burlington, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Eunice Wuthrich, Hazel Geyer, Elizabeth Grimm and brothers Joseph Wiegand and Ralph Wiegand and two grandsons, Matthew Miller and Jonathan Wiegand. Visitation will be Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Lunning Chapel from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Additional visitation at the church will be from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House where he received tender loving care. ******************
