Bert Young was known to everybody and his genial disposition made him lots of friends. He was always doing something to advance the interests of his town and was ever loyal and true to everything that promised to advance its interests. He probably built more houses in Fullerton than any other person, and he had just finished a splendid home in the Third ward. Bert Young was never a man of great wealth, but he employed the means he possessed in a beneficial and creditable manner. The funeral was held at the home, Rev. Ray officiating. Young, an old resident of Fullerton, died at his late residence in this city at 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 15, 1901. Mr. Young has for twenty-one years been one of our active business men and has been closely identified with the building of many residences. He was by occupation a barber. During the last two years he has been failing in health. Mr. Young was of a genial nature and he had many friends. He left a wife and one son, Arthur Young, surviving him....[poem in tribute to Albert by Alonzo Thompson].... Another clipping mentioned that his skull had been "injured by the kick of a cow some time ago and from the effects of which Bert has suffered for a good many months."
