The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 11, 1968 ======================== Mr. Albert J. Lepper was born August 2, 1878 in Carpenter, Iowa, to William J. Lepper and Minnie (Howe) Lepper and was one of five children all of whom have gone before him. At the usual age for young adults, he united with the Methodist Church. He was united in marriage to Zoe Vincent on August 5, 1908 in St. Joseph, Mo. To this union one son was born, Bart, who has also died before him, as has his wife, Zoe. The young family united with the Methodist Church of Nelson in 1927 under the pastorate of the Rev. V.R. Beebe, transferring from Hastings. For many years he was in business, beginning with a harness shop in Edgar, then becoming a traveling salesman for Dutton and Sons and later Dutton-Lainson of Hastings. Later he had a hardware store in Nelson. He was a charter member of Mid-west Lodge, number 317, AF and AM of Hastings. Several years ago he received his Fifty Year pin and honors for being the oldest Mason in the Lodge. Surviving are a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Nedra Driscoll of Phoenix, Ariz., and grandson, Glenn Driscoll of Omaha; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Barton Lepper of Vellejo, Calif., and granddaughter of the same address, Miss Judy Lepper; a grandson, John (sic) Lepper, a graduate student at the University of Nebraska; nieces and nephews, many acquaintances and friends. His brothers and sisters who preceeded (sic) him were Fred L., and Henry L., Mrs. Augusta Fleischman and Mrs. Alfa Schelegel. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Klawitter Chapel in Nelson, with Rev. Maurice Holt and Rev. Victor Schwarz officiating. Casket bearers were Harry Shaw, Guy Bruce, Ralph Aikin, Loy Davidson, O.P. Porter, and A.G. Klawitter. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery with arrangements by the Klawitter Funeral Home.
