Madison to Lawrence and Lena Rickelman Helling. On May 30, 1953 he married Rita Reichelt in Ft. Madison and she passed away on January 31, 1986. Albert was an independent milk distributor with his brother Leo. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge and the Eagles. Survivors include two sons, Brian (Julie) Helling of Burlington and John (Karen) Helling of Savannah, GA; five daughters, Kathy Higgens of Milan, IL, Ann (Jim) Jury of Farmington, IA, Celeste Helling of Charlotte, NC, Julie (Donnie) Ray of West Point, IA and Sara (Tom) Burch of Pontoosuc, IL; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Holtkamp of Ft. Madison and Mary Menke of St. Paul, IA;a daughter-in-law, Bernie Helling of Surprise, AZ; a son-in-law, Russell Hardin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Steve, his daughter, Paulette "Polly" Hardin, his brother, Leo and a son-in-law, Earl Higgens. The family will meet with friends from 2-4 on Sunday, August 7, 2016. There will be a wake service held at the funeral home at 4 PM. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery with military rites
