Banes, who died Thursday, September 14. Albert Leander Banes was born January 19, 1913, at Nobles County, Minnesota, the son of Rudolf and Anna Rayman Banes. Banes, who died Thursday, September 14. Albert Leander Banes was born January 19, 1913, at Nobles County, Minnesota, the son of Rudolf and Anna Rayman Banes. He moved to Tama County when a small child and later moving to Fayette County. When 13 years old he moved back to Tama County and made his home in Tama and surrounding counties working on various farms. On May 26, 1934, he married the former Ella Sylvia Stary in Cedar Rapids. He then worked in Elberon, Dysart and Traer before moving to Vining where he was in the trucking business for 14 years. He was a member of the Vining Volunteer Fire Department and president of the school board for a number of years. In 1952, he moved with his family to a farm between Elberon and Vining where he made his home until his death. He was a member of the V.S.A. Lodge of Vining and the Z.C.B.J. Lodge of Clutier serving as president of the Vining Lodge. He was also an active, member of the NFO. Survivors include: his wife, Ella; one son, Gene, Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Judy) Sankot, Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Todd Banes, Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Hladky Mrs. Albina Yilek, and Mrs. Anton (Mildred) Stochl all of Toledo; and Mrs. Frank (Bessie)Dvorak, Elberon; his step mother, Mrs. Bettie Banes, Oelwein; two half-brothers, William, Traer, and Edward, Sycamore, Illinois; seven half-sisters, Mrs. Paul Troy, Waterloo, Mrs. Wayne Fleming, Westgate, and Mrs. Elber Erhardt, Mrs. John Clendenen, Mrs. Floyd Clark, Mrs. Elizabeth Hendersen and Mrs. Dell Hansen; all of Oelwein; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Albert Lee, 1938, his parents, a brother, Frank and a half-brother, Ralph. Rev. Robert Cutbirth, pastor of the Congregational Church, Vining, officiated at the services Howard Pippert was soloist with Mrs. Frances Degner as organist in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Harold Vesely, Mrs. Ernest Upah, Mrs. Herbert Gettle and Mrs. Ralph Duchacek. Pallbearers were Harold Vesely, Otto Kubalek, Ernest Musel, Herbert Gettle, Melvin Cibula and Roland Degner. Final resting place was in the National Cemetery, Vining.
