Albert was born July 24, 1927 in Redfield, S.D. to Elmer and Rose (Garnesy) Leonard. he started country school in Redfield and later moved with his parents to Bartlett, in 1933, and graduated from Bartlett in May of 1945. He worked at various jobs after graduating and was a member of the HQ and HQ Co., 168th Infantry, National Guard, in Council Bluffs. Albert was born July 24, 1927 in Redfield, S.D. to Elmer and Rose (Garnesy) Leonard. he started country school in Redfield and later moved with his parents to Bartlett, in 1933, and graduated from Bartlett in May of 1945. He worked at various jobs after graduating and was a member of the HQ and HQ Co., 168th Infantry, National Guard, in Council Bluffs. Albert was married to Donna Pitts, March 2, 1952, and after the marriage was a long distance truck driver to California for several years. He also farmed until he retired and moved to Persia in 1988. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for over 50 years, and was an NRA member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping on the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Donna, Persia; son, David and his wife, Laura, Persia; grandsons, Mike, Loveland, Colo.; Steven, Persia; granddaughter, Julie, Persia; twin brother, Alfred, and his wife, Bernice, Harlan; and sister, Adelaide, Omaha. Funeral Services were held March 17 at the Logan Memorial Chapel, Pastor Nate Powell, officiant. Casket bearers were Roger Bruck, Jeff Gilliland, Roger Hildreth, Jr., Richard Bruck, Ken McDonald, and Duane McDonald. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery, Persia.
