Sweet came to Meridian from Sacramento three years ago where he was employed as salesman for the Sherman-Clay Company. He was married to Miss Erma Taylor of Meridian in 1912. END AND Sutter County Farmer (Yuba City, California) September 17, 1915 (Friday) "KILLED BY FALL FROM HAY LOFT. Albert M. Sweet of Meridian Dies From Concussion of the Brain. A bad accident occurred at Meridian last Tuesday morning when Albert M[iller] Sweet, proprietor of the Golden West Hotel there and a well known and highly esteemed citizen, died from the result of a fall from the hayloft. Mr. Sweet climbed up in the loft of the barn and was forking down some hay for the cattle when he slipped on the hay and plunged head foremost into the mangers below, a distance of about ten feet. He struck his head on the edge of the manger which rendered him unconscious. H. Wood, who was working near the barn, heard the fall and at once went to the aid of the injured man. With help he carried Mr. Sweet into the hotel nearby where Dr. W. L. Stephens and Dr. E. V. Jacobs worked over him, using every effort possible to save his life. He revived slightly but soon passed away from the concussion of the brain caused by his head striking the manger. The deceased was a native of Maryland, aged about 25 years, and had been a resident of Meridian and vicinity for the past three or four years, being an industrious and genial young man whom all liked. He leaves a widow who was formerly Miss Irma Taylor and an eighteen months old child, who reside at Meridian, besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Sweet of Maryland, a sister in Los Angeles and a brother in Maryland. The funeral was held at Meridian."
