Description	:	Albert Newman, son of Mary and Charles Newman, was born in Nuckolls County, Nebraska, Sept. 29, 1885. He passed away at the Hastings State Hospital Aug. 9, 1962, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 11 days. In February 1890, when Albert was four years old, his parents purchased the present farm home northeast of Guide Rock where Albert lived until April 17 of this year when his sickness took him to the hospital. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mrs. Mabel Newman; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ray Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. George Reiman of Glenvil; one step-son, Pete Moss of Norcatur, Kans.; a number of step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he loved; and a host of nephews and nieces, friends and neighbors. Mr. Newman's father, mother, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Newman was one of the oldest settlers in his community. In early days, in addition to his work as a farmer, he bought and sold cattle throughout Kansas and Nebraska. As a young man, with his mother, he was united with Christ in Prairie Center Christian Church and lived in this faith until his death. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., in the First Christian Church of Nelson on August 13, the Rev. Mr. Ewel Vaughan officiating. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
