He married Margaret Leahy April 3, 1923, in Danbury. She died April 25, 1974. He farmed in this area and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, John of Moville, Vincent and James both of Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo Dicks of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Roark and Mrs. James (Cecelia) Karhoff, both of Anthon, and Mrs. James (Katherine) Frederick of Shenandoah; two brothers, George Forch of Anthon and John Burow of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, his wife, two brothers and two sisters.
