Cancer was the cause of his death. The funeral was held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's Church. The service was in charge of Rev. Father Doyle and was largely attended. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Gottlieb Karl Forch was born in Whittenberg, Germany, March 16, 1859. At age twenty years he came to America and settled at Clinton, Iowa. In 1880 he went to Correctionville and worked at the carpenter's trade. January 11, 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Schuh, and together established a home on a farm near Midway. Two years later they moved to Crawford County where they lived for nine years. In 1900 they moved to Anthon settling on a farm northwest of town. In 1910 they moved to Anthon and lived five years and then moved to the farm the family now occupies east of town. Mr. Forch became afflicted with poor health several months ago and found no relief. At times he was better but within a short time he was down again and relief only came to him when death claimed him. Besides his widow he is survived by three sons, Albert of Danbury, George and Adam at home; three brothers, Fred, William and Hans in Germany, and two sisters, Katherine and Rachael, in Germany. He is also survived by two grandchildren, a nephew, W.J. Forch of Cushing, and a niece, Mrs. Jessie Barto of Plankinton, South Dakota.
