He was born on October 10, 1935 in Milton, Iowa to Arthur Samuel and Jessie Lucille Kittle Garrett. He married Norma Speer on May 22, 1962 in Memphis, Missouri. Norma passed away on August 23, 2012. Albert worked for Southern Iowa Electric Cooperative in Bloomfield, starting as a lineman and working his way to superintendent before retiring after 44 years on the job.... He was born on October 10, 1935 in Milton, Iowa to Arthur Samuel and Jessie Lucille Kittle Garrett. He married Norma Speer on May 22, 1962 in Memphis, Missouri. Norma passed away on August 23, 2012. Albert worked for Southern Iowa Electric Cooperative in Bloomfield, starting as a lineman and working his way to superintendent before retiring after 44 years on the job. He also owned and operated Garrett Electric and Trenching for many years. While not working, Albert enjoyed going camping, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bloomfield. He is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Brian Schmitz) Hugen of Ottumwa, Iowa; son, Steven (Roberta) Garrett of Glendale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Jessica Garrett, Shennen (Mike) Timpani, Zachary Garrett, Kennedy Hugen, Kooper Hugen; sister, Peggy (Bob) Shepherd of Bloomfield, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and four brothers, Wayne Garrett, William “Bud” Garrett, N.C. “Tiny” Garrett, and Larry Garrett. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastors Lee Carr and Tom Shipley officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
