Mrs. Van Osdol was born Sept. 9,1887, southwest of Plevna, the daughter of John William and Amanda McCall Thomas. As Alberta Blanche Thomas she was married Sept. 22, 1909, to Mr. Van Osdol. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and had served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Edna L. Koontz Nov. 13, 1966, and Bessie Tulk, Jan. 22, 1967. The Edina Sentinel, Edina, Missouri, December, 1975 Blanche VanOsdol Alberta Blanche VanOsdol, 88, southwest of Plevna, died Friday, December 19th at 2:30 p.m. at her residence. She was born September 9, 1887, southwest of Plevna, the daughter of John William and Amanda McCall Thomas. She was married September 22, 1909 at Plevna (sic) to Morten VanOsdol, who survives. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Edna L. Koontz, Newark and Mrs. Bessie Tulk, Newark. Mrs. VanOsdol lived her entire life in the Plevna community. For over 34 years she had been Assistant Postmistress, assisting her husband at Plevna. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She had been Sunday School superintendent and Sunday School teacher. The funeral was Sunday, December 21 at Hudson-Rimer Chapel, Edina. Rev. Luke Turnbough, Edina officiated and burial was in the King Cedar Grove Cemetery, southwest of Plevna. She was a faithful correspondent of the Shelby County Herald for about 30 years.
