Born Nov. 12, 1900, in Mechanicsville, she was the daughter of Ray and Maud Gilland Stoffel. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School, attended Cedar Rapids Business College and Cornell College in Mount Vernon. She married Kenneth Krumroy on June 22, 1922, in Mechanicsville. He died March 23, 1940. She worked for 23 years as a bookkeeper at Mechanicsville Trust and Savings Bank.
