Description	:	Mrs. Alberta Schuller, age 88, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, July 3, at 2:00pm, at the Alton Reformed Church in Alton. The Rev. Dr. C. Orville Kool will officiate. Interment will follow at the Nassau Township Cemetery in rural Alton. Visitation will be after 2:30pm on Wednesday at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Alberta Ruth was born on January 21, 1920, at Alton, the only child of Peter and Dena (Kleinbekman) Lucas. As a young woman, she attended Northwestern Junior College, and was then employed as a secretary for the Agricultural Soil and Conservation Service office in Orange City. On August 16, 1950, she married Henry John Schuller at Alton. Together, the couple farmed near Alton until 1989, when they retired into town. In 2003, Alberta became a resident of the Heritage House. Mrs. Schuller was a member of the Alton Reformed Church, where she participated in the ladies aid. She also belonged to the Floyd American Legion Post Auxiliary in Alton. She enjoyed raising flowers in her garden and baking. Survivors include her husband of more than 57 years; a sister-in-law, Violet Mouw of Orange City, a brother-in-law and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Robert and Arvella Schuller of Garden Grove, California, and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Henry Mouw, and two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Jessamine and Gerrit Vander Pol and Margaret and Arthur Reekers. Memorials may be directed to Hope Haven in Rock Valley.
