Description	:	Mr. Robert Campbell The death occurred in the M.R.D. Hospital on Saturday night of Mr. Robert Campbell, of Mount George, at the age of 74 years. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell, of Mount George. His father was the first man on the Manning River to start the agitation for the North Coast railway. Read More	Mr. Robert Campbell The death occurred in the M.R.D. Hospital on Saturday night of Mr. Robert Campbell, of Mount George, at the age of 74 years. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell, of Mount George. His father was the first man on the Manning River to start the agitation for the North Coast railway. In this work he was unremitting and attended deputations to the city to forward the claims of this district for such communication when men who took an interest in public affairs had to do so out of their own pockets. Unfortunately, he did not live long enough to see the achievement of the movement which he instigated. Deceased, the subject of this notice, as a young man, entered the supply section of the Postal Department, from which he retired when he reached the age of 60 years. During the whole of the time he was in the service he was stationed in Sydney. He was a staunch member of the Free Presbyterian Church, and was an elder of St. George's Church, Sydney, during the ministry of the late Rev. William Mclntyre, of revvered memory on this river, which be often visited. During his residence in Sydney he was Mayor of Balmain Municipality for a period of three years. He was an unswerving advocate of total abstinence, and was also Chief Templar of the Good Templars' Lodge of N.S.W. while he was in Sydney. He was also the originator of the Starr Bowkett Society in Balmain. On his retirement, he came to his property at Mount George, which originally belonged to the late Miss Kelly. The late Mr. Campbell, in his retirement, took matters easily, but often visited Wingham. He enjoyed the highest respect wherever he went. He is survived by a widow, four sons and one daughter, the sons being Messrs George, Robert, Allan and Athol, of Mount George district, and the daughter is Miss Winifred Campbell, of Sydney. He became ill with influenza last week, and Dr. Murphy, of Wingham, was called in. He recommended his removal to the M.R.D. Hospital, to which he was conveyed by ambulance, but he died a few hours after admission. The funeral took place on Monday, the remains being laid to rest in the private cemetery at Woodside, where the Rev. S. P. Stewart officiated.
