Description	:	Alexander Lorei, 95, of the Shady Brook area, northwest of Herington, died Monday, March 12th, 2012, at the Salina Regional Health Center. He was born on October 20, 1916, near Ramona (to immigrant parents), David and Katherine (Weimer) Lorei. Funeral Service will be at 10:30AM Friday, March 16th, 2012, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook (2201-1000 Avenue, Herington), with Rev. John Riebhoff officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. Friends may call Thursday from 2pm until 6pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel; and Friday from 9:30am until time of service at the church. Mr.... Mr. Lorei was a farmer-stockman for many years. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and served on the church finance board for many years. He was an officer on the Union Township Board, was a maintainer/patrolman and an assessor for Union Township. He received his certificate from Smith School in Marion County in 1931. He married Edna Mae Schlesener on September 17, 1950, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and she survives of the home. He is also survived by two (2) sisters: Eva Langhofer of Topeka, and Lucille Melcher of Las Vegas, Nevada. Preceded in death by three (3) brothers: Fred Lorei, George Lorei, and David Lorei, Jr., three (3) sisters: Marie Longhofer, Ella Riffel, Bertha Keeling, and his parents. The family requests memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church; and may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
