Lindsey who passed away at his home on August 24th, were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Congregational church. The pastor, Rev. G.A. McKinley officiated. The hymns, "Rock Of Ages", "Nearer, My God To Thee" and "Sun of My Soul" were sung as part of the services, the singers being Mrs. Ruby Coyne, Mrs. Earl Krouch, W.F. Brower and A.B. Canady. Mrs. Elmer Nelson was the pianist. The pallbearers were Ben Friese, Clark Winans, Martin Schoneboom, Al Dano, Tjark Jansen and H.H. Peper. Burial was made in the Wall Lake cemetery. Alexander Blair Lindsey was the oldest son of Roland B. and Abigail Lindsey, He was born at Washington, Iowa on Feb. 14, 1852, and at the time of his passing from this mortal life was 85 years, 6 months and 10 days of age. He was married on January 8, 1874, to Adria Newton at Washington, Iowa, who has been a loving and faithful wife for this period of 63 years, and who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey resided on farms in Ringgold, Washington, and Audubon counties, Iowa, until 1882 when they moved to Oxbo, Nebr. On March 18, 1886, they took a homestead in western Kansas, remaining there for five years. They moved to Fall River, Kansas, in 1891, making their home until 1924 when they came to Lake View, Iowa, to be near their daughter, Abigail (wife of A.H. Kelch) during their declining years. Besides his widow and daughter, Mr. Lindsey is survived by three sisters, Mrs. James Swift, of Washington, Iowa; Mrs. Sarah Smith of Gibson, Ill., and Mrs. R. A. Buris of Hastings, Nebr., and by one brother Will Lindsey of Geuda Springs, Kansas. His passing is also mourned by four grandchildren, Mrs. R.A. Minkler of Estherville, Miss Winford Kelch of Chicago, Mrs. Robert Ruegnitz of Dubuque and Alfred Kelch of Chicago, and one great grandchild, Richard Kimball of Estherville. He was a member of the Congregational church. Mr.Lindsey was one of those quiet, gentle persons who nether-the-less do much good work in their unobtrusive way and who leave a real void when they pass from our midst. In his homesteading days, he was obliged to work hard and face difficulties such as all pioneers endured and was always cheerful, hopeful and even-dispositioned. He suffered a stroke last May, but had recovered quite well from this trouble, when he was stricked with a heart attack a few days prior to his death. The Lake View Resort - 9/2/1937
