Smith, a long-time resident of Superior, died Saturday, May 8, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, at the Age of 91 years, 9 months and 3 days. Mr. Smith was born in Bloomingdale, Ill., Aug. 5, 1873. He came to Superior with his family in 1915 and for many years was associated with the G. R. Dodds Ice Cream and Ice Manufacturing Company. Smith, a long-time resident of Superior, died Saturday, May 8, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, at the Age of 91 years, 9 months and 3 days. Mr. Smith was born in Bloomingdale, Ill., Aug. 5, 1873. He came to Superior with his family in 1915 and for many years was associated with the G. R. Dodds Ice Cream and Ice Manufacturing Company. Before coming here they lived at Chicago, Ill., and at Franklin and Geneva in this state. He was married to Miss Jessie Morgan who preceded him in death in 1942. One son, Merle K. Smith, was born to this union. On April 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Martha Elizabeth Martin. Mr. Smith was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, and was active in the work of the church as long as health permitted. He was a member of the Masonic order for more than 50 years, and was honored by the local lodge at a ceremony in the local Masonic Hall when the 50-year membership pin was presented to him a few years ago. Survivors include his wife, Martha; son Merle K. of Pittsburgh, Pa., two grandchildren, Rex Smith of Chicago and Patsy Glass who lives in California; four great grandchildren; ; five step-children, Harold Martin and Mrs. Robert Denny of Superior, Mrs. Fern TeSelle of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. P. J. Friend of Lawrence and Ray Martin of Meridian, Idaho. Funeral services were held at the Megrue Funeral Home Tuesday forenoon with the Rev. Robert Favre officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery was delayed until Wednesday, when it was learned that Mr. Smith's son, Merle, was flying here from Calcutta, India, and would arrive Wednesday morning.
