Alex was born in a rural area near Wellington, Colorado, Nov. 3, 1921 to Henry and Maria Robertus. His family moved to the Laurel area in 1925, where the famly resided south of town. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December of 1942. He served aboard the USS Antietam as a torpedo attack pilot. He was discharged as a Lieutenant J.G. in January of 1946. He married Margaret Bateman on Feb. 5, 1946 in Norfolk, VA. He brought his bride to Laurel, where they resided until her passing after 52 years of marriage. He operated Robertus Electric, an electrical contracting company, in the Laurel area from 1950 to 1990. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, hunting and singing in the church choir. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, a past commander and member of the American Legion Post 123, and participated in many Herbstfest pageants. Margaret preceded him in death in 1998. Survivors include his two sons, Ronald and wife Ellen of Anchorage, Alaska; Daniel and wife Barbara of Roundup MT; his brothers and sisters: John of Laurel, Henry (Hanna) of Laurel, Albert (Jean) of Park City, Lila Gordon of Billings, Ester (Clem) Lambrecht of Billings, and Raymond (Gloria) of Laurel; his grandchildren: Phillip of Burr, Nebraska, Jennifer (Ray) Rodriguez of Mannheim, Germany, and Jaron of Kenosha, Wis; and his great-granddaughters: Adrianna and Carissa Rodriguez of Mannheim.
