Mr Jennings was an Orangeburg man, the son of the late Capt John Stroman Jennings, but on account of his health moved to Ninety-Six several years ago. He leaves a widow, who was before marriage Miss Emmie Cauthen, daughter of the late Rev A J Cauthen; three sisters, Mrs A C Faust [Annie Catherine Jennings Faust] of Columbia; Mrs E R Cleckley [Eugenia Rebecca Jennings Cleckley] of Orangeburg; and Mrs H J Brabham [Adele Jennings Brabham] of Allendale; and one brother, Patrick Phillip Jennings of Winona, Georgia. Mr Jennnings was 61 years of age. He was a man of irreproachable character and highly esteemed by all. Feb 1, 1916, the State ---------------- Buried at Cope Orangeburg, Feb 1 [1916] - Alexander Salley Jennings died at his home in Ninety-Six on last Sunday. The body was brought to the Cope section of Orangeburg county for burial at Union church graveyard. The Rev Mr Morris of Ninety-Six, assisted by the Rev W A Massabeau of Orangeburg and the Rev E H Beckharin of Cope, conducted the services. Mr Jennings was reared near Cope, where for many years he was a large and successful planter. During his latter years he lived at Ninety-Six. He had been in failing health for many years. He was a consistent church member and worker. He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Emmie B Cauthen.
