Description	:	Son of Jacob F Siegel and Barbara Jaekle SIEGEL Farmstead & Timber Culture: Born in Germany, immigrant Alexander lived in Wisconsin. He married Sara Ann SIEGEL, and they had three children, Etta, Elmer and Ed, who all left Iowa in the fall of 1876, and spent the winter with the Mormons in Utah. Read More	Son of Jacob F Siegel and Barbara Jaekle SIEGEL Farmstead & Timber Culture: Born in Germany, immigrant Alexander lived in Wisconsin. He married Sara Ann SIEGEL, and they had three children, Etta, Elmer and Ed, who all left Iowa in the fall of 1876, and spent the winter with the Mormons in Utah. In the spring of 1877, they came to Washington Territory and homesteaded 80 acres of grass land near Bonnie Lake, where there was wood and water. Bonnie Lake straddles the Whitman County line with Spokane County, and empties into Rock Creek (about five miles north of Pine City on Siegel Road). Their first home was a log cabin which they shared many times with Indians who came through going to Spokane or Kettle Falls. They regularly traded with the Walla Walla and Colville Indians. They raised eight children, and together with the CRUTCHER family, built a school house on the place. The family counts a picture of the school house, and one of the old branding iron utilized by Great-grandfather SIEGEL among their mementos. Alexander SIEGEL died at the age of 57 years, and his sons George and John took over the place, as well as home steading some land of their own. They assumed the care of the minor siblings until they were of age. John SIEGEL married Nelly SOOY, and they had five children, Verne, Hugh, Gale, Blanche Kile, and Ivannell Burton SIEGEL. When John passed away in 1948 at the age of 66 years, Hugh took over, and he still lives on the home place with wife Dorothy. Hugh and Dorothy live in the house that John and Nellie built 60 years ago. They use the same spring water. Grover SIEGEL is one of the older generation. He will be 86. He and his wife just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
