Most of Mr. Danker's life was spent in the Traer community. He was born in Oneida township, May 16, 1891, a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Danker, and as a boy lived in Crystal township with his parents fourteen years. In 1909 he accompanied his parents when they moved to their farm southeast of Traer in Perry township. He received his schooling in the schools of Crystal and Perry. For eleven years he operated the Danker farm in partnership with his brothers, Will and Ed. In 1908, due to ill health, he retired from farming and lived in Traer with his parents several years. After regaining his health, he worked as a truck driver for Floyd Smith and Peter Whannel. On May 16, 1984, Alfred married Vera Norris, of LaPorte City. The couple have made their home in La Porte, although Mr. Danker has been employed most of the time at trucking for building contractors in Waterloo. He has hauled materials for the firm s which built the new Waterloo post office, the new Iowa Public Service company plant, and some of the Rath Packing company's new buildings. Mr. Danker is survived by his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Drinovsky, north of Traer, and Mrs. Amanda Chalupnik, of Ontario, California, and two brothers, Edward, east of Traer, and Will, on the Danker home farm. The father, A. J Danker, preceded him in death on September 21, 1933, and the mother on February 10, 1939. Contributed by #48419540
