Description	:	Al Boyd, 82, of Genoa, Nebraska, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 24, 10:00 A.M. at Augustana Lutheran Church with Rev. Josh Feala officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery with military honors by Genoa Edward H. Larson Post 144 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M at Augustana Lutheran Church and on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the family. Al was born August 22, 1933, in Belgrade, Nebraska, to Russell and Lillian (Deike) Boyd. He grew up in the Belgrade area and attended rural country school. On April 5, 1954, Al entered the U.S. Army, he served in Okinawa where he worked on the pipe line until he was honorably discharged on March 14, 1956. On August 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Beverly Blocker at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska. Al worked for the old West Chicago Store and then at Gil’s Conoco in Genoa before going to work for Loup Power District in 1964. Al continued to work there for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Al was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa. He was also a member of the American Legion and previously a member of the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, going fishing and hunting and liked to collect John Deere tractors and toy tractors.
