Description	:	Alfred Jacopi was born January 4, 1905 in Lucca, Italy to Angelo Jacopi and his wife Augusta (nee Bastiani). He immigrated to the United States with his parents and sister Virginia, departing Genoa, Italy via the Princess Irene and arriving in New York City on September 19, 1907. Read More	Alfred Jacopi was born January 4, 1905 in Lucca, Italy to Angelo Jacopi and his wife Augusta (nee Bastiani). He immigrated to the United States with his parents and sister Virginia, departing Genoa, Italy via the Princess Irene and arriving in New York City on September 19, 1907. After settling in Cumberland, his family lived on Paca Street. Alfred graduated from SS. Peter and Paul Parochial School, LaSalle Institute, and Mt. St. Mary's College. He was proprietor of Jacopi grocery store on Paca Street in Cumberland for 28 years before his retirement in 1954 and was well known in coin collecting, sports, and horse racing circles throughout the Cumberland area. Alfred married Mary Lee Neubeiser, a Cumberland native, on January 30, 1956 in Miami, Florida and they honeymooned in Cuba, afterwards returning to Cumberland where they lived on Greene Street. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; Aerie 245, FO Eagles; Lodge 271, Loyal Order of Moose; the United Commercial Travelers, the Independent Grocers Association, and the National Numismatic Society. Alfred died suddenly after less than five years marriage. He was survived by his widow Mrs. Mary Lee Jacopi, mother Augusta, and sister Virginia. He is buried next to his wife Mary Lee in the Jacopi family plot in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Cumberland. Beloved son and husband.
