He moved to Chester at the age of 10. He was maried (sic) to Cora E. Sanguinette on June 30, 1903. His wife preceeded him in death on June 5, 1951. He is survived by the following children -- Mrs. Mary I. Snearly, Orville B. Hastings, and Mrs. Doris E. Rose of Elkhart, Indiana; and Mrs. Blanche A. Mullan of McLean, Virginia. Also, he is survived by 10 grandchildren. His home was with his children in Elkhart, Indiana. He was a member of the Chester Methodist Church and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church, Chester, Nebr., on Thursday, April 26, Dr. W.W. DeBolt in charge. Mrs. Lawrence Eickman and Mrs. F.C. Duey sang a duet, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Weary. Pallbearers were O.W. Norman, D.A. Cramer, J.B. Gallion, Chester Sawyer, J.E. Woodward, and Eugene Ray, Jr. I.O.O.F. Services were conducted by Lodge No. 135, Chester, Nebr. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic). I cannot say and I will not say That he is dead -- he is just away With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand He has wandered into an unknown land, And left us feeling how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there. So think of him faring on, as dear In the love of there as the love of here Think of him still as the same. I say: He is not dead, he is just away.
