Description	:	Cora Elizabeth Hastings was born near Rulo, Nebraska, May 11, 1873, to Mary and Ambrose Sanguinette. She died June 5, 1951 at Chester, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years, 26 days. On July 1, 1903 she married Alfred Orley Hastings at Preston, Nebraska to which union four children were born. Mrs. Hastings was a resident of Chester from the time of her marriage in 1903 until her death. She was a member of the Chester Methodist Church and of the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her husband, Mr. A.O. Hastings of Chester; her four children: Mrs. R.L. (Mary) Snearly of Elkhart, Indiana, Mr. Orville B. Hastings of Elkhart, Indiana, Mrs. George C. (Doris) Rose of Elkhart, Indiana, and Mrs. R.W. (Blanche) Mullan of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. C.M. Jones of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. C.J. Hoppe of Falls City, Nebraska. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church (sic) in Chester, June 9, 1951, at two o'clock with Rev. James K. Irwin in charge. The pallbearers were D.A. Cramer, F.C. Duey, W.C. Throne, L.W. Eickman, J.E. Woodward and Arthur Woodward. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery. I cannot say and I will not say That she is dead -- she is just away! With a cherry smile, and a wave of the hand She has wandered into an unknown land, And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since lingers there. So think of her faring on, as dear In the love of there as the lover of here Think of her still as the same, I say: She is not dead -- she is just away.
