Bar Association, died Wednesday at his home after a brief illness. He was 67. Mr. Zollicoffer was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1956. Larimore HENDERSON -- Algernon Augustus Zollicoffer Jr. a former state legislator and leader of the N.C. Bar Association, died Wednesday at his home after a brief illness. He was 67. Mr. Zollicoffer was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1956. He served in the House for 10 years and was chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Active in the legal profession, Mr. Zollicoffer served as president of the Vance County Bar Association and was a member of the Board of Governors of the N.C. Bar Association. He joined the family law firm of Zollicoffer and Zollicoffer in Henderson, established by his grandfather more than a century ago, and was the senior member of the firm at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, Jane Lewis Zollicoffer; a son, Allison Caulaincourt Zollicoffer II of Charlotte; three daughters, Jane Crichton Zollicoffer of Greensboro, Fannie Cooper Zollicoffer of Washington and Ellen Lewis Zollicoffer of Raleigh; and one grandson. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Holy Innocents in Henderson. (Obit published in "The News & Observer" in Raleigh, NC on October 4, 1991.)
