Masden The large attendance of the friends of A.H. Masden at the funeral services Wednesday afternoon, was a symbol of the love and friendship of all who knew him. Both the balcony and the main rooms of the church were filled with members of his Sunday school class attending in a body and more than fifty students of Iowa Wesleyan also attended the services in a body. The services were in charge of the Rev. James Wilkins, the pastor of the M.E. church. His text was taken from 110 Psalms--15th verse, "Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." The Rev. G. L.Stanley of the Friends Church assisted with the services by reading portions of John 14, the 90th Psalm and concluding with the 23rd Psalm and prayer and three hymns. "Face to Face", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me", were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Floyd Berry. Algeron H. Masden, youngest child of Algeron and Delilah Cook Masden, was born August 4, 1874 and departed this life at his home, at the place of his birth near Salem, Iowa, April 16, 1934, age 59 years, 8 months, and 12 days. Allie, as he was familiarly known, gave his heart to the Friends church at Salem, Iowa. June 6, 1900, he was united in marriage to Minnie Britton. To this union was born two children, George Algeron and Margaret Ruth, who with their mother are left to morn his passing. Also a sister, Mrs. Lillie Mosher, of Salem, Iowa and a brother Frank Masden of Fairfield. His parents and one sister, Mrs Anna De Lashmutt, preceded him in death a number of years ago. He and his family were faithful attenders at the M.E. church where he has taught a class in the Sunday school for three years. The remains were laid to rest in the South Cemetery with the following friends as pallbearers: Mel McVey, E. W. Breazeale, Charles Watts, Joe Stukenjurger, Fred Townsend, Stace Lampe.
