Description	:	Alice Anderson Neff was born in Burlington, Washington January 19, 1925, to Soren A. and Agnes Anderson. She was the third of three daughters, a first generation American. She began school in Bow and graduated from Burlington-Edison High School, class of 1943. After graduation she worked at the Navy Sea Plane Base on Whidbey Island for the duration of the war. She... Read More	Alice Anderson Neff was born in Burlington, Washington January 19, 1925, to Soren A. and Agnes Anderson. She was the third of three daughters, a first generation American. She began school in Bow and graduated from Burlington-Edison High School, class of 1943. After graduation she worked at the Navy Sea Plane Base on Whidbey Island for the duration of the war. Prior to the war she met Louis Neff, the man she would marry after his return from the war. They were married at Fort Lawton in Seattle on January 8, 1946 and spent 64 years of their lives together. She was a military wife of 20 years, the mother of three children, all born while Louis was assigned to Fort Mason, San Francisco, CA. Life in the Army took her and her family to Oklahoma, Seattle, Japan, Kansas, Tacoma, France, and Virginia. After retirement the family returned to Tacoma and later moved to Burlington. Alice chose to be a homemaker and mother. She was active in the community. She loved to bowl, walk the Skagit River dike, play cards, garden, travel and visit with friends and family. Alice died January 30, 2010 in Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Soren and Agnes Anderson, and her sister, Hilda Landry. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis F. Neff; three children, John (Faye) Neff, of Kettle Falls, Washington, Nancy (Richard) Green, of Oak Harbor and Donna (Bruce) Killion, of Charleston, South Carolina; her sister, Janet Thomas, of Burlington; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, officiating Rev. Phil Raether. A reception will follow the service in parish hall. A graveside service will follow the reception at Bow Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association , St. Charles Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
